Elevated connectivity in Katipunan: Between learning spaces and city life

Arthaland, through its subsidiary Sotern Land Corporation, has partnered with Ateneo de Manila University to construct a dedicated pedestrian footbridge that directly connects Arthaland’s residential development, Liv. Located at the Esteban Abada side of Katipunan Avenue to the Ateneo campus, the footbridge is open for public use, ensuring that its benefits extend beyond residents. Formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement, the project stands as a rare example of private sector participation in public mobility infrastructure, transforming a daily challenge into a shared community solution. Rather than functioning as a simple crossing, the footbridge represents a collective investment in safety, accessibility, and long term urban improvement. Elevated connectivity as a new urban idea While traditional footbridges are often built purely for function, the Katipunan footbridge introduces a different approach. Designed as part of Liv’s retail podium and residential environment, the structure becomes seamlessly integrated into everyday life. This concept, described as elevated connectivity, creates continuity between home, commerce, and education. Residents can move from living spaces to retail areas and onward to campus without disruption, reinforcing a Live Work Learn ecosystem that aligns with modern urban planning ideals.
