Water tariff hike and recovery drive boost BWSSB revenue close to ₹200 crore

With stricter bill recovery, new connections under Cauvery Phase 5, and tech-driven reforms, the Water Board sees a sharp rise in income while balancing rising monthly expenses. The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has reported a significant rise in revenue following a combination of water tariff revision and strict recovery of pending dues. The move is part of a larger effort by the board to balance its growing expenses with steady income. For several years, BWSSB had been struggling to align its revenue with rising operational costs. However, in recent months, multiple corrective measures have started showing results. One of the major factors behind this improvement is the increase in water connections after the implementation of the Cauvery Phase 5 project. This includes launching new projects and intensifying the collection of pending bills from consumers. BWSSB has also taken steps to improve efficiency through technology-based reforms. Campaigns have been carried out to prevent unauthorised water and sewerage connections, along with improving sewage treatment systems. These initiatives have played a key role in increasing revenue within just one year.
