HYDERABAD: The Telangana cabinet has decided to hand over a commission report on alleged irregularities in power purchases during the previous government’s tenure to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and seek a probe. The decision also covers alleged lapses in the Bhadadri and Yadadri thermal power projects.

Briefing reporters after the cabinet meeting, minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the panel findings would be submitted to the CBI for further investigation.

The cabinet also decided to revise land prices across the state before May 26. To facilitate applicants under the HILT policy, it approved a provision allowing them to pay 10% of the land cost upfront if they apply before the revision. The remaining 90% must be paid within 90 days, and the current land prices will apply to such applicants.

The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy at the Dr B R Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat in Hyderabad on Monday, also resolved to extend support to farmers affected by unseasonal rains.

In another decision, the cabinet brought Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), polytechnics and T-SAT under the purview of the state’s Skill University.
