SC rejects Mizo chiefs’ claim of unpaid compensation for acquired lands

In a decisive ruling, the Supreme Court has thrown out a petition from the Mizo Chief Council claiming that the lands held by tribal chiefs were taken without any compensation. The court determined that there was insufficient evidence to support notions that these chiefs held equivalent authority to princely state rulers.
