NBI seeks CCTV copy showing portion before the viral Bato running video

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is asking Senate authorities to share the footage of closed-circuit television (CCTV) showing the portion when Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa arrived at the Senate on Monday, May 11, after six months of hiding. While Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano had already admitted that his vehicle was used in transporting dela Rosa inside the Senate, NBI director Melvin Matibag said it is still better that the entire CCTV footage is shared to them as part of the investigation. “What was shown in the videos in social media was the part where he was running. But we also want to see what happened before that,” said Matibag. In pushing for the release of the CCTV footage, Matibag cited the statement made by his agents that Dela Rosa tackled a female NBI agent who was about to serve the arrest warrant against him before running away. The arrest warrant was the one which the International Criminal Court (ICC) confirmed to have issued in relation to the crimes against humanity wherein Dela Rosa was named as co-perpetrator of former president Rodrigo Duterte. That portion of the CCTV footage, according to Matibag, will give the public a clear picture of what really transpired before the viral running video of Dela Rosa. The video became subjects of parody and memes on social media.
