DFA denies targeting Chinese nationals amid rising arrests

MANILA, Philippines — Recent arrests of Chinese nationals in the Philippines were based on evidence and lawful enforcement actions, and do not indicate targeting, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Thursday, after Beijing raised concerns over the growing number of Chinese citizens apprehended in the country. “The Philippines respects the rights of all foreign nationals under Philippine law.
