US Reports Continued Shipping in Strait of Hormuz Despite Iranian Closure Claims

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that 55 commercial vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz on June 20, contradicting statements from Iran’s military command claiming the waterway had been closed. CENTCOM stated that US forces are continuing operations to ensure freedom of navigation in the region. US President Donald Trump stated that the US may impose tolls on vessels transiting the strait if a final diplomatic agreement with Iran is not reached.
