E20 Ethanol Fuel May Affect Rubber Parts In Older Vehicles, Increases Fuel Consumption: ARAI Report

An ARAI report has flagged that rubber components like hoses, seals and O-rings in E10-compliant vehicles may deteriorate when used with E20 fuel. Tests showed mixed engine durability results, while two-wheelers performed acceptably. The study found no metallic damage, but fuel consumption increased by 2-6 percent compared to E10.
