Construction worker nabbed for stabbing friend in QC

A 39-year-old construction worker was arrested after allegedly stabbing his friend during a heated confrontation on Commonwealth Avenue near Don Fabian Street in Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City, on Aug. 19. The suspect, identified as alias “Mark,” a resident of Barangay Fairview, allegedly asked a witness to accompany him to the area to fetch their friend, who was later identified as the victim, Batasan Police Station (PS 6) said. The witness, who was unaware that the suspect was carrying a knife, agreed to accompany him. Upon reaching the area, the suspect and the victim allegedly got into a heated confrontation, during which the suspect drew a knife and stabbed him. The victim managed to parry the attack but sustained a stab wound to his left arm, while the suspect fled. PS 6 operatives conducted a follow-up operation that led to the suspect’s arrest at around 1:40 p.m. on Aug. 20. Police also recovered an 11-inch kitchen knife with a black-and-red handle believed to have been used in the attack. The victim was brought to Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital, where he remains confined. Police records showed that the suspect had previous cases involving physical injuries, violation of Republic Act No. 9262, grave threats, and resistance and disobedience to a person in authority in March 2020; violation of Republic Act No. 9165 in September 2020; and P.D. 1602 in February 2025.
