DMW still monitoring Filipino seafarers in northern Black Sea

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is closely monitoring Filipinos abroad, especially those affected by the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac reported that more than half of the 400 Filipino seafarers in the Black Sea, 261 in total, have been repatriated after their vessels came under attack. He reiterated his call for manning agencies and ship operators to avoid sending ships through the northern Black Sea, warning of the grave risks posed by armed groups in the area. The two fatalities and injured crew members have already been brought home, while authorities continue the search for one seafarer who remains missing following the assault on their vessel.
