They have no air force left. They have no anti-aircraft equipment left, no radar left, no leaders left. The leaders are all gone. Nobody knows who to talk to. But we’re actually talking to the right people and they want to make a deal so badly. You have no idea how badly they want to make a deal.” Spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaqari ended a video message in English, saying, “Hey Trump, you are fired!,” echoing the U.S. leader’s well-known line from The Apprentice, his reality TV hit show which he hosted from 2004 until 2015. Iran denied on Monday (March 23) that it had engaged in negotiations with the United States, after President Trump postponed a threat to bomb Iran’s power grid because of what he described as productive talks with unidentified Iranian officials. A European official said that while there had been no direct negotiations between the two nations, Egypt, Pakistan and Gulf states were relaying messages. A Pakistani official and a second source told Reuters that direct talks on ending the war could be held in Islamabad as soon as this week. More than 2,000 people have been killed in the war the U.S. and Israel launched on February 28.
