Impeach court grants request to subpoena BIR, bank, insurance execs

MANILA, Philippines — The Senate impeachment court on Thursday granted the House prosecution panel’s request to subpoena several representatives of banks and insurance companies, as well as the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) for the impachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte. This came after lead prosecutor and Batangas Rep. Gerville Luistro announced that the panel will no longer present former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV as a witness in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
