Assam Police apprehended two suspected militants of the banned United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) outfit in the Jagun area of Tinsukia district on Friday, seizing a cache of arms and explosives. Acting on specific intelligence, the operation intercepted the duo as they were entering Assam via Arunachal Pradesh, allegedly after crossing over from Myanmar. The arrested individuals have been identified as Siyor Asom and Manoj Asom. Police officials said the suspects were travelling in a Swift vehicle when they were intercepted near Jagun. The operation was carried out following prior intelligence inputs regarding their movement towards Assam. Sources indicated that the two cadres had reportedly crossed into Arunachal Pradesh through Jairampur before attempting to enter Assam, triggering a coordinated response from security forces. Officials confirmed that the accused have been brought to Tinsukia for further interrogation. Investigators are now working to determine their network, operational intent, and possible links to broader militant activities in the region.
