9 Suspected Bangladeshi Nationals Held on Train in Guwahati

Nine suspected Bangladeshi nationals have been detained from the Silchar–Guwahati Express ( Train No 15616), in a case that has triggered a fresh security alert in Assam. According to the initial report, the group was travelling as passengers on the train from Badarpur towards Guwahati when they were intercepted. Railway police acted after some alert passengers raised suspicion about their movement and informed the authorities. The detained group consists of six men, one woman, and two children. During preliminary questioning, the individuals failed to produce any valid identity documents to establish their citizenship. Officials said no legal proof of Indian identity was found with the group at the time of detention. Railway police suspect that the group may have entered Assam illegally through the Assam–Bangladesh border area, possibly via routes in the Barak Valley region such as Karimganj or adjoining areas. Following the interception, all nine persons were taken into custody by the Railway Police and are currently being kept at the Paltan Bazar Railway Police station in Guwahati for detailed verification and further investigation. Officials said the investigation is ongoing to determine their identity, travel route, and possible links to illegal entry networks. Also Read: Cash, Liquor Found Inside West Bengal School Room
