BI: Joseph Sy to be returned to detention after medical clearance

MANILA, Philippines — Mining tycoon Joseph Sy will be returned to the detention facility of the Bureau of Immigration following his medical clearance from hospital confinement, the agency said on Wednesday. The BI arrested Sy at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on August 21, 2025 after arriving from Hong Kong for allegedly holding fraudulent Philippine documents, saying his real name is Chen Zhong Zhen.
