It is a powerful and inspiring journey that celebrates the strength, resilience, and empowerment of women. With the message “When a woman is empowered, she prospers,” the padyatra seeks to highlight the importance of women’s empowerment in society and advocate for their rights, dignity, and equal opportunities. The padyatra (foot march) was held in Bhubaneswar, drawing a large number of women participants as they marched from Master Canteen Square to Ram Mandir. The rally focused on advocating for women’s empowerment and underscoring their increasing participation in public life. Large Participation in City March Hundreds of women participated in the rally, walking together through the city’s streets. The event aimed to showcase the strength of women and their vital role in societal progress. It also highlighted the growing presence of women in leadership and governance. Leaders Join the March The rally saw participation from several prominent figures, including Aparajita Sarangi, Member of Parliament from Bhubaneswar, and Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy, both of whom walked alongside other women participants, showing solidarity with the movement. Aparajita Sarangi on Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam Implementation Speaking at the rally, Aparajita Sarangi emphasized the need to implement the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam across all State Legislative Assemblies, including the Delhi Assembly. She said, “We want to see the timely implementation of this legislation by 2029 so that women can have proper representation in governance. She noted, “The 50% reservation for women at the grassroots level has already brought about significant changes. Now, with the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam ensuring 33% reservation in Parliament and State Assemblies, it must be implemented on time to ensure women’s rightful place in decision-making.”
