Former PN candidate Josephine Xuereb dies

Former Nationalist Party candidate Josephine Xuereb has died after a long illness, the party announced on Sunday. Xuereb, who was originally from Gozo but later settled in Ħaż-Żebbuġ, had been active both in the healthcare sector and in politics. The PN paid tribute to her in a Facebook post, describing her as a dedicated professional who had also given her time to public service through her political involvement. She contested the 2022 general election for the PN on the 7 th and 13 th districts and had also been approved to contest last month’s general election. However, she was unable to submit her nomination due to her deteriorating health. In 2019, Xuereb also contested the local council election in Ħaż-Żebbuġ on behalf of the PN. The party noted that she died on the feast day of St Philip, the patron saint celebrated in Ħaż-Żebbuġ, where she had been living. The PN extended its condolences to Xuereb’s family and loved ones.
