France steps up security measures amid worst riots in years with targeted curfews, protest bans; 2,400 arrested

An overnight curfew was issued by Paris police on Monday for two areas of the capital, prohibiting anyone from entering or staying at Place de la République, which was one of the locations where rioting broke out on Saturday (October 17).
