Ranson: Happy birthday, America

Former President Gerald Ford looked at the Fourth of July 1976 to heal the country from the Nixon Watergate fiasco and to look forward and honor the United States. The American Freedom Train kicked off the year-long celebration on April 1, 1975, with a 23-month, 25,388-mile tour of the 48 states which didn’t include Alaska or Hawaii.
