UAE sets June 30 deadline for Emiratisation targets, warns of Dh120,000 fines

Dubai: The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has confirmed that Tuesday, June 30, 2026, is the final deadline for private sector companies with 50 or more employees to meet their Emiratisation targets for the first half of the year. The ministry warned that companies failing to comply will face financial contributions starting from July 1, amounting to AED 10,000 per month (AED 120,000 annually) for each Emirati not hired. Strict action against violations MoHRE stressed that any attempts to bypass the rules or engage in “sham Emiratisation” will be dealt with firmly under applicable laws. It noted that its advanced digital and field inspection system is capable of detecting violations. Emiratisation targets explained The policy requires companies to achieve an annual Emiratisation growth rate of 2% in skilled roles, split into: 1% in the first half of the year 1% in the second half The ministry said these targets are part of a broader national strategy to increase Emirati participation in the private sector. Gradual increase in penalties The financial contributions are part of a phased enforcement approach introduced in 2022: AED 6,000 per month (AED 72,000 annually) in earlier stages Increased to AED 10,000 per month (AED 120,000 annually) in 2026 Support for companies The ministry urged companies to utilise the “Nafes” platform, which provides access to qualified Emirati job seekers across various sectors. It also highlighted incentives for compliant companies, including: Up to 80% discounts on MoHRE service fees Priority in government procurement opportunities Membership in the Emiratisation Partners Club Call for public cooperation MoHRE encouraged individuals to report violations or suspicious practices through its call centre (600590000), website or smart app, assuring strict confidentiality. The ministry emphasised that Emiratisation policies are a key pillar of the UAE’s economic strategy, aimed at enhancing competitiveness, driving sustainable growth and strengthening the role of nationals in the labour market.
