Brian joined Yelp as an engineering intern in spring 2019. Seven years later, he’s an iOS engineer whose code shows up in the everyday moments diners and restaurant owners experience on Yelp. Today, Brian is sharing what that path has looked like, and why curiosity has been the throughline all along. Q: Tell us about your journey at Yelp. A: I joined Yelp as an engineering intern in spring 2019, building the onboarding experience for what’s now Guest Manager — the app restaurants use to run their front-of-house. I came back full-time that fall as an iOS engineer and have been on the restaurant side ever since, across three teams. I’m now on the Guest Experience Management team. Seven years, three teams, one constant: restaurants and the people who eat at them. First, I was focused on the tools restaurants use and now I’m focused on the experience diners have.
